Meet Our Team

I grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Cypress Creek High School. I earned my undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University, and my medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. I returned to Houston to complete my residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. I have practiced obstetrics and gynecology in the Houston area for over 20 years, and I hold a Masters of Public Health degree from Chamberlain University.

I branched into hormonal therapy after a personal experience. As I neared menopause, I made a tough decision to have my ovaries removed. I did not think I would notice a big change, but I was wrong. I learned firsthand the rollercoaster of hormonal management. After trying various regimens of estrogen, I still felt that something was missing. I lost a certain drive that I felt had to do with the loss of testosterone made by the ovaries. I eventually found the right hormone replacement for me, which included testosterone, and I quickly felt like myself again. This transformation amazed me! I soon decided I wanted to help other women find their appropriate, personal, hormonal regimen.  I have become certified in Advanced Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy through Worldlink Medical, and rely on over 20 years of obstetrical and gynecological training and practice.

I live in Houston with my wonderful husband, two sons, and two cats. I enjoy swimming, roller skating, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and skim boarding. I dabble in painting and digital media. I advocate for autistics as the President of Autism Research Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the independence of autistics in the state of Texas.

Dr. Wynne Duncan M.D

Dr. Wynne Duncan has been a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist for over 20 years. She began her career in private practice at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. When the Texas Children’s Hospital Pavilion for Women opened in 2012, she was recruited there to work as an OB/GYN hospitalist.

While she has had much joy in delivering babies, she is very excited to now focus on women’s midlife health. She is a certified menopause practitioner with the Menopause Society and a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole person, prescriptive lifestyle change to prevent, treat and, when used intensively, often reverse chronic medical conditions.

Joining the team at Hormonal Well-Being affords her the time necessary to spend with each patient in order to truly individualize care and allows for collaboration in decision making with each woman.

Liza Rivera grew up in the Houston area and graduated from the High School for Health Professions. She pursued her passion for nursing and became a nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health, earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
Liza completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where she earned both her master’s in nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees, graduating with honors.
With over 20 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology, Liza began her career as a labor & delivery nurse at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas before returning to school for her master’s degree. She then worked as a women’s health nurse practitioner in various OB/GYN settings, including indigent care and private practice. During this time, she also served as an undergraduate clinical instructor at UT Health Science Center and precepted graduate nursing students.
After a decade of practicing as a nurse practitioner, Liza returned to graduate school to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Her doctoral project focused on postpartum depression screening and providing options to help women during this crucial hormonal and emotional period.
Throughout her career, Liza has encountered women of all ages and backgrounds, united by a common desire to feel good. Personally, it was in her mid-forties when she felt like she was turning into her teenage daughters, experiencing acne flare-ups and mood changes, as well as weight fluctuations and melasma. Frustrated with ineffective treatments, she delved into understanding the impact of hormones on women’s health, prompting her to specialize in hormonal therapy, weight management, and aesthetics.

Dr. Liza C. Rivera, DNP, APRN, WHNP-BC

Liza hopes to help women find their “feel-good” happy place, whatever that may be. She is currently the primary interventionist in a randomized clinical trial, “The Mastery Lifestyle Intervention,” which aims to reduce biopsychosocial risks for pregnant Latinas and African Americans and their infants. She remains fascinated by the effects of hormones on human life from gestation through the lifespan into late adulthood, with a particular interest in helping all patients improve their physical and mental well-being.
Beyond her professional work, Liza is deeply involved in community service. Her volunteer efforts include working with Kids’ Meals, the Houston Food Bank, the West University Senior Center, and mentoring through Literacy Now Houston. Additionally, she is a Eucharistic minister and CCE teacher at her local church.
Liza is happily married to her wonderful husband, and they have three daughters, two in college and one in high school. She loves football, volleyball, and cheerleading, and enjoys watching both professional and college sports. In her free time, Liza enjoys running, traveling, reading, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She also adores her two mini goldendoodles, who bring endless joy to her life.
